| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article propose une socio-anthropologie d’un insecte ordinaire, le moustique. Le suivi d’une controverse locale, relative aux projets de démoustication de la Camargue, permet de saisir les évolutions récentes du rapport entre l’homme et l’animal. En première analyse, la controverse se structure selon un principe dualiste, suivant la césure anthropocentrisme versus biocentrisme. Puis vient la mise à l’épreuve de cet ordonnancement, à la faveur de la perméabilité accrue des anciennes frontières entre nature et culture, utile et nuisible, savant et vernaculaire, protection et prédation. Au final, l’insecte n’est plus seulement un enjeu social, politique, économique, mais devient un prétexte pour parler non plus stricto sensu du rapport entre l’homme et la nature, mais aussi des rapports humains. |

| Summary, etc. | This article concerns the socio-anthropology of an ordinary insect, the mosquito. The recent changes in the relationship between man and animals have been highlighted by a recent local controversy in the Camargue concerning mosquito eradication. A first step gives a dualist shape to this controversy, opposing anthropocentrism and biocentrism. Subsequently, such a dual order is questioned by the permeability of the old frontiers which exist between nature and culture, useful and harmful, scientific and popular knowledge, protection and predation. Finally, the insect has not only a social, political and economic impact, but becomes a pretext speaking not only of the relationship between man and nature, but also of humans themselves and their relationship to their own species. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungDer Artikel möchte die Sozialanthropologie eines ordinären Insekts, der Mücke, darstellen. Ausgehend von der lokalen Kontroverse um die Mückenvernichtung in der Carmague, sollen die aktuellen Entwicklungen der Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Tier nachgezeichnet werden. Zunächst ist festzuhalten, dass die Debatte durch den Dualismus von anthropozentrischer Zäsur und Biozentismus gekennzeichnet ist. Dieser Dualismus zeigt sich deutlich durch die zunehmende Durchlässigkeit alter Grenzen, die immer weniger Gültigkeit besitzen : Grenzen zwischen Natur und Kultur, Nutzen und Nichtnutzen, offiziellem und einheimischen Wissen sowie zwischen Schutz und Prädation. Zudem hat das Insekt keine ausschließlich soziale, politische oder wirtschaftliche Bedeutung mehr. Es wird vielmehr zum Vorwand um nicht mehr nur über die Beziehung von Mensch und Natur zu sprechen, sondern auch über die Beziehung der Menschen zu sich selbst. |
