| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’installation durable en Norvège d’immigrants musulmans et de leurs descendants a fait de l’islam la deuxième religion du pays. Cet article s’intéresse aux membres d’associations de jeunes et d’étudiants installées à Oslo, et à la façon dont ils militent pour redéfinir ce que signifie aujourd’hui être musulman en Norvège. Selon l’auteur, qui étudie la production de la catégorie des « musulmans norvégiens », et la manière dont les jeunes musulmans l’adoptent, la rejettent ou la négocient, cette nouvelle identité se forge à partir des discours et des pratiques de l’État-nation, mais aussi des discours et des pratiques de l’islam transnational. Les jeunes musulmans, ainsi formés et autoformés comme citoyens-sujets, ne passent pas par une adaptation passive aux normes dominantes, mais par un processus complexe de négociation qui implique une « participation » plutôt qu’une « intégration ». |

| Summary, etc. | The durable settlement of Muslim immigrants and their descendants has made Islam the second largest religion in Norway. This article deals with young women and men affiliated to Muslim youth and student organizations in Oslo, and the ways in which they publicly engage in redefining what it means to be a Muslim in Norway. Focusing on the production of the category “Norwegian Muslim”, and the ways in which young Muslims embrace, resist and negotiate national and religious identities, the author argues that what it means to be a Norwegian Muslim to activist young Muslims is shaped both by the discourses and practices of the nation-state and by the discourses and practices of transnational Islam. The ways in which young Muslims are shaped and shape themselves as citizen-subjects is shown to be neither a passive adaptation to dominant norms, nor a refusal of these, but a complex process of negotiation that foregrounds “participation” rather than “integration”. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungDer dauerhafte Aufenthalt muslimischer Immigranten und ihrer Nachkommen in Norwegen, hat den Islam zur zweiten Religion des Landes aufsteigen lassen. Dieser Artikel beschäftigt sich mit den Mitgliedern von Jugend- und Studentenorganisationen in Oslo und mit ihrer Art und Weise das Muslimsein in Norwegen heute zu definieren. Dazu untersucht der Autor die Herausbildung der Kategorie „norwegischer Muslim” und wie diese Kategorie von den jungen Muslimen angenommen, abgelehnt oder neuverhandelt wird. Dem Autor zufolge formt sich die neue Identität sowohl durch staatliche Diskurse und staatliches Handeln, als auch durch Diskurs und Praxis eines transnationalen Islam. Durch die Teilnahme an diesem komplexen Verhandlungsprozess, mehr noch als durch ihre Integration oder durch die passive Anpassung an dominante Normen, werden die jungen Muslime eigenständig und mit staatlicher Unterstützung zu mündigen Staatsbürgern erzogen. |
