| Summary, etc. | RésuméDes enquêtes ethnographiques consacrées à la pratique contemporaine d’un jeu athlétique ancien, le jeu de « soule », permettent de mettre en évidence un exemple de revivalisme original dans la mesure où il ne s’accompagne pas de patrimonialisation. Malgré sa légitimité patrimoniale incontestable en termes historiques et anthropologiques, ce jeu n’est pas revendiqué comme patrimoine par les acteurs qui le relancent. L’article s’intéresse aux rapports entre le jeu de soule et le monde du sport, avant d’interroger plus spécifiquement ses relations au patrimoine et de montrer comment les acteurs contemporains qui prennent en charge le revivalisme de la soule trouvent des solutions alternatives pour créer de la valeur culturelle sans pour autant passer par le processus de la patrimonialisation. |

| Summary, etc. | Playing “soule” in France today : a revivalism without patrimonialisationEthnographical fieldwork devoted to the practice of the old athletic game of “ soule” in the present enlightens a form of revival which is unusual because it doesn’t claim to have any special relation with cultural heritage. In spite of its indisputable cultural value at a historical and at an anthropological level, this game isn’t considered as a cultural heritage in the eyes of its players. The paper investigates the relations between “ soule” and sports, before questioning its specific relationship to cultural heritage and showing how the actors in the revival of “ soule” find alternative means to create a cultural value out of the game without using the usual heritage building process. |
