Il souligne les « dilemmes pratiques » rencontrés par un groupe socialement dominé ne souhaitant pas médiatiser ses conditions de vie et de logement pour ne pas être stigmatisé et réprimé. Cette étude de cas témoigne plus largement de la difficulté des migrants à faire respecter leur « droit à l’image » et à imposer une représentation visuelle valorisante de leur groupe. |

West African Migrants and French Journalists in the SixitiesWorking from a database of visual archives and interviews with journalists, this paper deals with the conflicts of representations between journalists and African migrants in the sixties. Socially dominated, these migrants have to bear with “practical dilemmas”, as they do not want to provide media coverage to their conditions of living and lodging, so as to escape stigmatisation. This case study testifies to the difficulty of migrants to see their rights to their own image enforced and to set forth a positive image of their group. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungRecherchen in Bildarchiven und Interviews mit Journalisten bilden die Grundlage dieses Artikels, der den Repräsentationskonflikt zwischen Journalisten und afrikanischen Migranten in den 1960er Jahren thematisiert. Dabei geht es vor allem um die „praktischen Dilemmata“ einer großen Migrantengruppe, die ihre Lebens- und Wohnbedingungen nicht bildlich thematisiert sehen möchte, um Stigmatisierungen zu entgehen. Die vorliegende Fallstudie beschäftigt sich diesbezüglich vor allem mit der Schwierigkeit der Migranten ihr Recht für oder gegen bestimmte Bilder durchzusetzen und so die visuelle Darstellung ihrer Gruppe zu beeinflussen. |
