| Summary, etc. | Au cours des premières décennies du xxe siècle, et malgré un passé pluriséculaire, la force de l’émigration, les persécutions puis la déportation ont eu raison de la communauté juive de Rhodes. Pourtant, au début des années 2000, la mémoire de cette présence a retrouvé une certaine vitalité sous l’impulsion de différents acteurs. C’est ainsi que la dernière synagogue de l’île, le Kahal Kadosh Shalom, se trouve désormais être au cœur au centre de nouvelles pratiques et de commémorations. Elle a même connu des transformations matérielles importantes qui l’ont placée au centre d’un véritable « complexe de mémoire », en prise avec le contexte local mais aussi avec des réseaux internationaux à dimensions planétaires. |

| Summary, etc. | A Synagogue at the MuseumDuring the first decades of the xxth century, and despite a centuries-old presence, emigration, persecution and deportation destroyed totally the ancestral Jewish community of the island of Rhodes, Greece. However, under the leadership of different players, the memory of this historical presence has shown a new vitality in the early 2000s. During this process, the last synagogue in the island, the Kahal Kadosh Shalom, has been at the very centre of practices and commemorations. It has been refurbished and transformed and it is now at the heart of an “equipment of memory”, engaged with local or international networks, and included in a global dimension. |

| Summary, etc. | Die Synagoge als Museum Die ersten Jahrzehnte des 20. Jahrhunderts, die turbulente Vergangenheit, die Auswanderung, die Verfolgung und schließlich die Deportation sind an der jüdischen Gemeinde auf Rhodos nicht spurlos vorüber gegangen. Seit Beginn der Jahrtausendwende ist allerdings durch den Einfluss verschiedener Akteure ein Aufleben der Erinnerung an dieses Kapitel zu beobachten. So wurde beispielsweise die letzte Synagoge der Insel – die Synagoge Kahal Kadosh Shalom – ins Zentrum der Erinnerung gerückt. Durch wichtige materielle Zuwendungen ist sie zu einem wichtigen Baustein der Erinnerung geworden und das nicht nur im lokalen, sondern ebenso im internationalen und weltweiten Umfeld. |
