| Summary, etc. | De la fin des années 1880 à la Grande Guerre, les mouvements de jeunesse protestants se sont activement engagés en faveur de la promotion du sport et de l’hygiène sociale. Arnaud B aubérot* montre comment cet intérêt nouveau pour les questions touchant au corps fut alors explicitement relié aux objectifs religieux que poursuivaient ces organisations, la préservation d’un corps sain devenant un aspect de la piété personnelle. Toutefois, pour l’auteur, cet engagement procède finalement moins d’une attention nouvelle au corps que d’un réaménagement de la place qui lui est faite dans la vie religieuse et dans l’économie du salut. |

| Summary, etc. | From the late 1880s to World War I, protestant youth movements were deeply committed to the promotion of sports and social hygiene. Arnaud B aubérot shows how this new interest for the body was explicitly related to the religious agenda of these movements, the maintenance of a healthy body so partaking of one’s personal devotion. What motivated this commitment, however, was less a renewed attention to the body than a redefinition of the place it was to hold in religious life and in the economy of salvation. |
