| Summary, etc. | Bien que peu nombreux (moins de 20 000 personnes en France) et peu revendicatifs, ceux que l’on appelle depuis quelques années les « Roms » représentent une forme insupportable d’urbanité : habitat « indigne », activités économiques basées sur la prospection dans l’espace public, défaut présumé d’hygiène etc. sont autant de caractéristiques négatives d’une « population » qui ne semble manifestement pas à sa place. À partir d’une ethnographie auprès de différents groupes dits « roms » en région parisienne, cet article met en lumière la manière dont ces indésirables s’assurent malgré tout un « droit à la ville » quand celle‑ci fait tout pour se débarrasser des « encombrants urbains » (hommes et objets), tout en ne cessant d’en produire. |

Some Thoughts about the “Roma” and the Paradoxes of Liberal Urbanity Although not very numerous (less than 20 000 in France) and having little demands, those called in recent years the “Roma” embody an intolerable form of urbanity : substandard housing, economic activities based on exploration in the public space, alleged lack of hygiene etc. are all negative characteristics of a “population” which clearly seems out of place. Based on an ethnography of various so‑called “Roma” groups in the Paris area, this article highlights how these families nevertheless ensure a “right to the city” when the city does its best to get rid of this “urban waste” (men and objects), while never ceasing to produce new ones. |

| Summary, etc. | Aunque poco numerosos (menos de 20.000 personas en Francia) y poco reivindicativos, los que son llamados desde unos años los “Roms” representan una forma insoportable de urbanidad : vivienda “indigna”, actividades económicas basadas sobre la prospección en el espacio público, falta presumida de higiene etc. componen un conjunto de características negativas de una “población” que no parece claramente en su sitio. Este artículo, basado en una etnografía de diferentes grupos “roms” en la región parisina, trata de demostrar el modo con el cual estos indeseables procuran sin embargo asegurarse un “derecho a la ciudad”, mientras ésta hace lo posible para eliminar a estos “molestosos urbanos” (hombres y objetos), que por otro lado no para de producir. |

| Summary, etc. | Auch wenn sie nicht sehr zahlreich (weniger als 20 000 in Frankreich) und nicht sehr fordernd sind, stellen die Personen, die man seit einigen Jahren Roma nennt, eine unhaltbare Form von Urbanität dar : unwürdiger Wohnraum, Betteln im öffentlichen Raum, ein angenommener Mangel an Hygiene etc., all dies sind die negativen Charakteristika einer Bevölkerungsgruppe, die nicht an ihrem Platz zu sein scheint. Auf Basis einer Ethnographie verschiedener Roma‑Gruppen im Großraum Paris arbeitet dieser Artikel die Art und Weise heraus, wie diese Unerwünschten sich trotzdem ein Städterecht sicherstellen, wohingegen die Stadt alles tut um sich von diesem städtischen „Sperrmüll“ (Menschen und Dinge) zu befreien, ohne jedoch aufzuhören, weiteren zu produzieren. |
