| Summary, etc. | S’intéressant à un emblème populaire des luttes pour la démocratie au Brésil, cet article se penche sur la capacité heuristique du drapeau du Mouvement des Sans Terre à dévoiler certaines significations de la crise politique ayant porté Jair Bolsonaro au pouvoir. À partir de matériaux ethnographiques issus d’une longue enquête dans l’État du Pernambouc, lieu stratégique des mobilisations de la gauche au cours de cette période, l’analyse souligne les écarts entre ritualisations militantes et usages ordinaires faisant du drapeau autre chose qu’une adhésion à la cause de la démocratie. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper engages ethnographically with the Landless Workers Movement flag, a popular symbol of the struggles for democracy in Brazil. It argues for a heuristic approach able to grasp hidden meanings of the political crisis which resulted in the rise of Jair Bolsonaro. Drawing on a long-term fieldwork in the state of Pernambuco, a strategic place of left-wing protests in this period, the paper highlights significant differences between activists ritualization and ordinary uses of the flag, challenging the commitment to the cause of democracy. |

A partir de material etnográfico de una extensa investigación en el estado de Pernambuco, un lugar estratégico para las movilizaciones de izquierda en este período, este análisis destaca las diferencias entre las ritualizaciones de los militantes y los usos ordinarios que hacen de esa bandera algo más que un símbolo de apoyo a la causa de la democracia. |

Er plädiert für einen heuristischen Ansatz, der bestimmte Bedeutungen der politischen Krise aufdecken kann, welche Jair Bolsonaro an die Macht brachte. Anhand von ethnografischem Material aus einer langfrististigen Studie in Pernambuco, einem strategischen Ort der damaligen linken Proteste, betont die Analyse die Diskrepanz zwischen aktivistischer Ritualisierung und dem normalen Gebrauch der Flagge, eine Herausforderung der Sache der Demokratie. |
