| Summary, etc. | En cherchant à explorer la manière dont « les infrastructures tiennent », ce numéro de Flux cherche moins à regarder la manière dont les flux circulent ou à caractériser les évolutions sur le type de flux qui circulent que les conditions, les activités, les fonctions, les liens qui leur permettent de circuler. Il aborde la question de la continuité des infrastructures et des services qui leur sont attachés en se penchant sur une variété de configurations de maintenance dans des secteurs multiples, entre le ferroviaire, la route et l’énergie. Il met en lumière 4 enjeux principaux : le travail que représentent ces activités d’entretien, les frictions qu’il suscite avec l’exploitation des infrastructures, la valorisation incertaine dont fait l’objet la maintenance, et la fragile émergence des préoccupations pour la maintenance malgré les urgences apparentes du vieillissement de certaines infrastructures. |

| Summary, etc. | Exploring the ways and means through which infrastructures are upkept, this special issue of Flux is less focused on the analysis of fluxes’ circulations or the characterisation of the evolution of the fluxes circulating in infrastructures, but rather pays close attention to the conditions, activities, functions, links and relationships that make them circulate. At the centre of our concern lies the issue of infrastructure continuity (and of the services intertwined with it), grasped through a variety of infrastructure maintenance configurations in diverse sectors such as rail, road or energy systems. The series of articles sheds light on 4 main issues: the labour represented by maintenance activities; the frictions between infrastructure maintenance and infrastructure exploitation; the uncertain valuation of maintenance; the fragility of maintenance as a collective concern in spite of the seemingly urgent decay and ageing of some infrastructures. |
