En partant de ce constat, l’article souligne combien ces agents de terrain s’appuient au quotidien sur leur vécu pour déterminer les contours et les limites de leur rôle professionnel. À partir d’une enquête quantitative d’ampleur nationale, de nombreux entretiens et d’observations participantes, le propos s’articule autour d’exemples précis où le passé personnel des gardiens décide du rapport qu’ils entretiennent avec leur fonction. |

Since this is the case, the author points out how these employees make use of their past experience in their everyday work to define the scope and the limitations of their occupational role. Based on a quantitative nation-wide survey carried out in France, which included many interviews and observations on the field, the author discusses the concrete examples encountered where caretakers’ image of their functions was determined by their own past history. |
