| Summary, etc. | La politique de démocratisation scolaire, menée en France de manière volontariste à partir de 1985, marque le pas depuis le milieu des années 90, comme en atteste la stagnation de la proportion de bacheliers dans une classe d’âge. L’objet de cet article est d’interroger, dans ce contexte, les transformations du système d’enseignement supérieur, notamment sa tripartition croissante (Grandes écoles, filières de l’enseignement supérieur court IUT/STS – Institut universitaire de technologie et sections de techniciens supérieurs –, premier cycle universitaire), en mobilisant un point de vue ethnographique qui conjugue des enquêtes de terrain en milieu étudiant et une expérience d’enseignant-chercheur dans l’université de masse. Le cas des étudiants de milieux populaires est ici privilégié dans l’analyse. |

| Summary, etc. | The voluntaristic policies adopted in France since 1985 to make education more democratic have been bogged down since the 90s, as shown by the fact that the numbers obtaining the baccalauréat in each age group are no longer increasing. The aim of this paper was therefore to examine the changes undergone by the French higher educational system, especially as regards its tendency to split up into three increasingly separate parts: élitist training colleges, short technical courses known as IUTs and STSs (University Institute of Technology and Higher Technicions courses), and University undergraduate courses, using an ethnographic approach. The results of field studies carried out in student circles are presented along with a description of the experience of a lecturer conducting research at a popular French university. This analysis focuses in particular on the case of students of humble origin. |

| Summary, etc. | La política de democratización escolar, llevada a cabo en Francia de manera voluntarista a partir de 1985, marca el paso desde mediados de los años 90, como lo demuestra el estancamiento de la proporción de bachilleres en una clase de edad. El objeto de este artículo es interrogar, en este contexto, las transformaciones del sistema de enseñanza superior, especialmente su tripartición creciente (grandes escuelas, secciones de enseñanza superior corta IUT/STS – instituto universitario de tecnología, sección de técnico superior –, primer ciclo universitario), aplicando un punto de vista etnográfico que conjuga investigaciones de campo en el medio estudiantil y una experiencia de docente-investigador en la universidad de mases. Se privilegia el caso de los estudiantes de sectores populares en el análisis. |

| Summary, etc. | Der 1985 in Frankreich begonnene Prozess der Demokratisierung des Zugangs zum Hochschulwesen ist seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre zum Stillstand gekommen. Beweis dafür ist die gleich bleibende bzw. rückläufige Zahl der Abiturienten eines Jahrgangs. Vor diesem Hintergrund behandelt dieser Beitrag die Veränderungen des Hochschulsystems, insbesondere die bestehenden Unterschiede zwischen den drei Formen, zwischen denen die Abiturienten wählen können (Elitehochschulen, Kurzstudiengänge IUT/STS (wissenschaftlich-technische Studiengänge/berufsorientierte höhere Fachausbildungsgänge) oder Grundstudium, 1. Zyklus, an einer regulären Universität). Die Analyse stützt sich dabei auf ethnographische Feldstudien im studentischen Milieu sowie auf Erfahrungen eines Dozenten und Forschers an einer Massenuniversität. Studierende aus bildungsfernen, sozial schwachen Schichten werden in dieser Untersuchung besonders berücksichtigt. |
