520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Should it be about patients who do not want to give up their illness or about resistance to remembrance, Freud puts the psychoanalysis efficacy into perspective with the desire of recovery from part of either the analyst or the patient. To cure the symptoms of suffering is not the first aim of analysis, but a « supplementary benefit ». One can talk about efficacy of the cure when the psychoanalyst, standing as a « stranger », allows a subject to re-write his own history, by driving back to past times what springs up in the session as present and real. |
