Summary, etc. Si Lacan met l’Autre au lieu du trésor des signifiants, pur sujet de la théorie des jeux, ce n’est pas à travers le défilé de ses incarnations imaginaires, encore moins en l’assurant d’un réel qui n’aurait pu être que maternel, mais comme condition symbolique de la séparation et de l’aliénation. Il voisine ainsi avec la question théologique, d’autant plus quand elle se pose après la Shoah, comme chez Hans Jonas. Dans sa tentative de penser un « athéisme viable », il finit par cette idée que l’Autre n’existe pas. L’hypothèse de cet article est qu’il suit, contre la vérité religieuse, la piste d’un nouveau déisme, pour qui la question de l’existence de Dieu est une question subsidiaire, si « son essence enveloppe son existence ».
