| Summary, etc. | D’ici un an, en mars 2019, les négociations visant à entériner la sortie du Royaume-Uni de l’Union européenne — le Brexit — sont censées avoir abouti. Cette échéance constitue certes un horizon d’assez court terme, mais est-elle immuable et quelles conséquences peut-on en attendre ? Jean-François Drevet examine ici trois aspects directement ou indirectement liés au Brexit : l’hypothèse d’une marche arrière du Royaume-Uni si les Britanniques ne parviennent pas à un accord satisfaisant de sortie de l’Union européenne ; les conséquences du Brexit sur les relations internes à l’Union, et en particulier la cohésion réelle et inattendue des 27 autres membres de l’Union dans les négociations en cours ; enfin la clarification qui en découle s’agissant des relations de l’Union européenne à l’égard de sa périphérie. Quelle que soit l’issue du Brexit, une chose est sûre, il aura fait bouger les lignes et contribué à une certaine forme de relance au sein de l’Union. S.D. |

| Summary, etc. | In one year’s time, in March 2019, the negotiations to finalize the UK’s exit from the European Union (Brexit) should have reached an end. This is, admittedly, a short timeline, but is it set in stone and what consequences are to be expected from it? Jean-François Drevet looks here at three questions directly or indirectly linked to Brexit: the hypothesis of the UK reversing its decision if it does not achieve a satisfactory agreement on leaving the EU; the consequences of Brexit for the EU’s internal relations and, in particular, the real, unexpected cohesion of the 27 other members of the Union in the current negotiations; and lastly the clarification that follows from this with regard to the EU’s relations with its periphery. Whatever the outcome of Brexit, one thing is sure. It will have moved things on and contributed to a degree of revitalization within the European Union. |
