Summary, etc. | Cette étude empirique de nature quasi-expérimentale examine la relation causale entre la RSE d’un employeur potentiel et l’engagement affectif anticipé de candidats externes tout en examinant l’effet modérateur du genre et des objectifs de carrière sur cette relation. Nos participants étaient des futurs gestionnaires étudiant en école de gestion. Nos résultats indiquent que la RSE a un effet direct significatif sur l’engagement anticipé. Les participants exposés à un employeur potentiel pour qui la culture de RSE est importante ont développé avant l’embauche un engagement affectif significativement plus élevé que les participants exposés à un employeur potentiel pour qui la culture de RSE est moins importante. Similairement, l’effet direct du genre et des objectifs de carrière est significatif ce qui indique que les femmes ainsi que les participants ayant de forts objectifs de carrière ont un engagement affectif anticipé plus faible que respectivement les hommes et ceux ayant de faibles objectifs de carrière. Par contre, ni le genre ni les objectifs de carrière ne jouent un rôle modérateur sur la relation entre la RSE et l’engagement anticipé. Ces résultats suggèrent que la RSE peut constituer un attribut organisationnel à valeur ajoutée dans un contexte visant à stimuler l’attraction des candidats envers la firme. |

Summary, etc. | This quasi-experimental empirical study examines the causal relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) communication and job candidates’ anticipated affective commitment. This study also examines the moderating role of gender and career goals in the relationship between CSR and anticipated commitment. Participants were future managers enrolled in a business school. Results indicate that CSR communication has a significant direct effect on anticipated commitment. Participants who were exposed to a potential employer where CSR is important developed a significantly higher affective commitment towards that potential employer than participants exposed to a potential employer where CSR is not important. Results also show that gender and career goals have both a significant direct effect on anticipated commitment. In short, female participants have lower anticipated commitment than male participants and participants with strong career goals have lower anticipated commitment than participants with weak career goals. However, neither gender nor career goals were found to play a moderating role in the relationship between CSR and anticipated commitment. These findings suggest that CSR communication can add value to a firm attraction strategy. |
