| Summary, etc. | Dans un environnement des affaires mondialisé et hyperconcurrentiel, le Business Development (BD) apparaît incontournable pour l’entreprise. Son objectif est de développer de nouvelles activités à travers la détection d’opportunités d’affaires, l’exploration de nouveaux marchés et de contribuer ainsi au développement de la croissance de l’entreprise. Cet article propose une focalisation sur le processus du BD à travers l’exploration de ses diverses composantes, présentées sur la base d’une revue de littérature. Ensuite, une enquête quantitative menée auprès de 308 Business Developers en France nous permet de confirmer le profil et les compétences de ce professionnel au regard des composantes du BD identifiées. Ces résultats sont susceptibles de fournir un éclairage conséquent aux managers et dirigeants d’entreprises souhaitant optimiser l’activité de BD, mais également aux chercheurs, décideurs ou pédagogues investis dans le développement de programmes de formation. |

| Summary, etc. | In a global and hypercompetitive business environment, Business Development (BD) is a must for à company. Its objective is to develop new activities through the detection of business opportunities, the exploration of new markets and thus contribute to the growth of the company. This article proposes a focus on the BD process through the exploration of its main components, presented on the basis of a literature review. Then, a quantitative survey conducted with 308 Business Developers in France allows us to confirm the profile and skills of this professional, in view of the BD components which has been presented. These results are likely to provide important insights for managers and entrepreneurs wishing to optimize the business development activity, but also for researchers, policy makers or educators invested in the development of training programs. |
