520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The author discusses the therapeutic purpose of body-oriented mediations such as relaxation and massage for young adolescents suffering from eating disorders. The clinical examples demonstrate that it is mainly the therapist’s inductions and the way he/she is physically in contact with the patient in the transference-countertransference relationship that serves as interpretation. In body-oriented mediations, be it through massage or relaxation, direct interpretations by the therapist are quite rare. The relationship is mainly based on body language: either the patients are encouraged to express their experiences, sensations, emotions, thought associations, or they remain within what is felt during the session. The author also discusses the links between psychoanalytical body-oriented mediations and traditional psychotherapies based on verbal elaboration.
