| Summary, etc. | RésumésL’une des rares traces directes des mutins de 1917, les graffiti tracés sur les trains de permissionnaires brisent le monopole étatique sur l’écrit dans l’espace public en temps de guerre. Ils permettent de nuancer le sens de ce mouvement d’indiscipline et de comprendre quel répertoire d’action et quels mots permettent à ce mouvement social improvisé et hétéroclite de déployer des revendications dans le cadre hostile de l’institution militaire, pour affirmer son refus du conflit. On voit alors que si la guerre transforme leur langage et réduit leur marge de liberté, elle n’a pu faire disparaître les cultures antérieures des soldats qui prennent ainsi la parole. |

| Summary, etc. | One of the rare direct traces of the mutinous soldiers of 1917 – graffiti drawn on the trains by soldiers on leave, shatters the state monopoly on writing in public during wartime. They make it possible to qualify the meaning of this movement of indiscipline and to understand the repertory of actions and the words that enabled an improvised, heterogeneous social movement to express its protest within the hostile framework of the military institution and assert its refusal of the conflict. Thus, we can see that, although the war transformed their language and reduced their margin of freedom, it could not silence the previous culture of the soldiers who spoke out in this way. |
