| Summary, etc. | Working from a detailed clinical description of Matthieu, an adult resident of a medicalized foster home, the author highlights eight necessary functions for psychological and affective fostering, the development of transference, and sensory openness to the environment. Based upon classical theories such as those of Haag, Winnicott, and Anzieu, and more recent ones by Delion, Cupa, and Maldiney, the author explores the connection between handling, auxiliary support, phoric function, superego, and protective shielding. All these functions make it possible to ensure individual encounters with Matthieu, but also the opportunity to welcome archaic transference and sustain his physical and visual discovery of the environment. The author also discusses the role of multidisciplinary work in such clinical situations. |
