| Summary, etc. | In the movement of regression Jung described so often, the patient is asked to let himself to be worked upon, in transference: to experience a backwards movement of the libido so that the conflicts in which he is embroiled, in the present, are resolved, and he can commit to the future. The myth of the hero is an account of this journey from the West to the East: the obstacles encountered and the possibilities for rebirth offered by the crossing. It is also a trip to the land of the dead, and may give rise to an apokatastasis, a reconstruction of the life of his ancestors. This returns the patient to wholeness, after he has accepted to pay the price of sacrifice. |
