| Summary, etc. | Le site du Pré-Catelan, dans le Bois de Boulogne, voit se côtoyer les membres du Lagardère Paris Racing et des prostituées. La longanimité dont font preuve les ayants droit du Pré-Catelan vis-à-vis de la présence prostitutionnelle constitue une énigme au regard du pouvoir de mise à distance prêté aux habitants des beaux quartiers par la littérature sociologique. Cet article montre qu’en l’absence d’un contexte municipal favorable à la politisation du racolage, « travailler » à ignorer les prostituées constitue pour les ayants droit du Pré-Catelan une alternative à la mobilisation. Car ce qui est vital pour ces derniers, c’est moins de parvenir à monopoliser leur lieu de loisir que d’imposer une définition homogène de celui-ci. |

| Summary, etc. | Members of the elite athletic club Lagardère Paris Racing and prostitutes frequent one another at the site of Pré-Catelan in the Bois de Boulogne, on the western edge of Paris. The tolerance that people with rights over the Pré-Catelan show toward the presence of prostitutes is curious given the distancing power the sociological literature attributes to residents of better neighborhoods. This article demonstrates that in the absence of a municipal context favoring the politicization of solicitation, “working” on ignoring prostitutes is an alternative to mobilization for Pré-Catelan rights-holders. This is because it is less vital for them to manage to monopolize their leisure space than it is to impose a homogeneous definition of it. |
