Beyond a mere Afghan reality its trafficking primarily empowers European-based criminal groups (including Turkey), main beneficiaries of a trade which profits are probably largely reinvested in the European legal economy and its South-Eastern fringes. In doing so it fuels corruption and undermine the rule of law. |
