| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’objectif de cet article est d’avancer dans la compréhension des nouvelles modalités de coordination associées à l’émergence d’une Économie Fondée sur la Connaissance au cours des trois dernières décennies. Plus précisément, il s’agit d’introduire et de contribuer à un débat repéré au sein du champ des sciences sociales (notamment au travers de la problématique de la codification des connaissances) et portant sur la coordination des activités productives dans les configurations organisationnelles modernes. L’enjeu est notamment de déterminer si cette dernière s’appuie principalement sur les NTIC (approche « sanguine » de la codification) ou si elle nécessite des interactions plus personnalisées faisant de l’interaction en face-à-face une modalité de coordination essentielle (approche « critique » de la codification). Restreignant notre étude à l’analyse de l’activité de conception au sein du réseau vertical d’entreprises, on avance dans cet article que ces deux propositions sont réconciliables au sein d’une analyse se proposant de rendre compte de la diversité des organisations « réticulaires » ainsi que de la dynamique de coordination qui s’y joue. |

| Summary, etc. | This article aims at better understanding the new coordination devices associated with the emergence of a knowledge-based economy. We question therefore the apparent paradox that characterizes the literature on knowledge codification: while several authors insist on the specific properties of the ICTs allowing to coordinate « virtually » the activities inside vertical networks (the « sanguine » view of knowledge codification), others argue that interpersonal relationships are still crucial in such organizations (the « critical » approach of knowledge codification). In this article, we will refrain from taking either from these positions. More precisely, we argue that it is possible to articulate these positions by developing an approach that allows to understand the diversity and the dynamics of organizational forms. We develop therefore a typology of « network’s architecture » in which each organisational form is characterised by a set of distinctive coordination devices and mobilize it in a dynamic way. |
