| Summary, etc. | RésuméMalgré son image provinciale, Clermont-Ferrand est une ville où les musiques actuelles sont fort actives. Cette dynamique musicale a longtemps été ignorée par les autorités municipales, hormis pour restreindre les nuisances sonores. Depuis le début des années 1990, des équipements ont été construits mais ils restent inadaptés aux groupes locaux. Les musiciens, locaux ou attirés par l’atmosphère clermontoise, vivent souvent dans la précarité en attendant subventions et contrats. Pour grandir et réussir à percer, ils recherchent des lieux pour répéter et montrer leur savoir-faire. Ces lieux n’existent pas en centre-ville alors qu’ils sont disponibles dans les quartiers nord, des quartiers plus modestes. L’enjeu est, d’une part, d’inciter les jeunes musiciens à la mobilité, en dépassant leurs représentations sur la centralité et les quartiers d’habitat social et, d’autre part, de définir des espaces urbains complémentaires.© 2008 Lavoisier, Paris. | Summary, etc. | In spite of its provincial image, Clermont-Ferrand is a city with a strong activity in underground musics. During a long time, local authorities were not interested by this type of culture and economic sector, except to forbid it to avoid noise in city centre. Since the beginning of the 1990s, their attitude has changed and they have built musical amenities. Nevertheless, these ones are no adapted to size and finances of local groups. Many musicians are poor and precarious, living for playing only. They are looking for contracts and subsidies; therefore, they have to play in good conditions to improve the quality of their music. However, useful amenities exist in declining neighbourhoods only, and they are not interested to go there. One of the most important issue is facilitating mobility, exchanges, and creating two complementary areas, one for training and the other for musical shows.© 2008 Lavoisier, Paris.
