| Summary, etc. | L’agglomération du Grand Manchester a pour caractéristique d’avoir connu à partir des années 1960 un effondrement de son activité textile traditionnelle. En s’appuyant sur la capacité d’entreprise de ses grandes familles capitalistes, la conurbation s’est réorientée vers une économie majoritairement tertiaire (banques, enseignement supérieur et recherche, publicité, production télévisuelle) stimulant le tissu créatif et artistique local. Afin d’accompagner le développement de ces industries émergentes, les pouvoirs publics ont lancé en partenariat avec des acteurs privés, diverses opérations de régénération culturelle des quartiers industriels et créé diverses structures chargées d’animer et de rapprocher les acteurs des industries créatives. Si la croissance de l’économie culturelle mancunienne est très forte, les collaborations au sein des différentes industries créatives demeurent encore marginales. |

| Summary, etc. | Cultural regeneration and development of creative clusters: the example of the Greater Manchester metropolitan areaSince the 1960s, the Greater Manchester metropolitan area has faced a traditional textile activity decline. Thanks to the capitalist families entrepreneurship, the Manchester conurbation has refocused metropolitan economy on new service activities (banks, higher education, research, advertising, television production...) and has boosted its creative and artistic milieu. The objective of the Manchester public authorities is to help these emerging activities development. So, they have launched with private actors several operations of industrial districts cultural regeneration and the creation of creative and cultural industries network organizations. If the growth of the cultural economy is very important, partnerships between creative industries actors remain very limited. |
