| Summary, etc. | Dans son livre de 1995 : « L’amour terroriste », hélas épuisé, V.A. Miller décrit, pour les couples qu’il reçoit en thérapie, une évolution de plus en plus fréquente : d’une relation fusionnelle, appelée à combler tous les manques, à une relation de pouvoir régie par l’angoisse, qu’il qualifie de « terrorisme intime » ; ce phénomène, d’une ampleur récente, trouverait sa source dans les transformations de la société contemporaine. Cette mise en perspective retient notre intérêt, mais l’analyse sociologique nous paraît approximative et les propositions thérapeutiques ne nous enthousiasment pas. Elle nous permet toutefois d’ouvrir des pistes de travail pour les thérapies de couple. |

| Summary, etc. | Is Intimate Terrorism the Only Future for Couples ? In his book published in 1995, “Terrorist Love” which is unfortunately out of print, V.A. Miller describes, for the couples that he works with in therapy, a more and more frequent evolution : moving from a relationship of fusion which is supposed to satisfy all of one’s needs, towards a relationship of power, driven by anxiety, that he calls “ intimate terrorism” ; this phenomenon, recently growing in numbers, would find its source in the transformations of contemporary society. This point of view is interesting, but the sociological analysis seems sketchy and his therapeutic propositions are not very exciting. However, they nevertheless allow us to consider new avenues of work for therapy with couples. |
