| Summary, etc. | Since many years, Circular Economy (CE) has been promoted as one of the key vectors in the transformation of societies characterized by a capitalist system towards a sustainable transition. However, in the actions implemented to date, its transformative potential remains limited. And many challenges appear in establishing a link between CE’s societal objectives and local and sectoral experiments, whose effects on a wider scale appear limited. Therefore, in this article, we highlight the potential, albeit limited, contributions of mobilizing STS to build interactions at different spatial scales for the transition to CE and its contribution to sustainability issues. In this respect, we suggest a network actor theory perspective to capture the potential of CE in the pursuit of an ecological transition. Our analysis underscores the need to consider the role of the composition process of actor collectives and to integrate non-humans into the dynamics of macro-societal transition towards CE and its articulation with sustainability issues. |

| Summary, etc. | L’économie circulaire (EC) constitue depuis quelques années l’un des vecteurs essentiels de transformation des sociétés caractérisées par un système capitaliste vers des modes de production plus durables. Cependant, dans les actions mises en œuvre jusqu’à présent, ses potentialités transformatrices restent limitées. En outre, beaucoup d’analyses peinent encore à établir un lien entre les objectifs à caractère sociétal liés à l’EC et les expérimentations locales et sectorielles, dont les effets à une échelle plus large semblent aussi limités. Dans cet article, nous soulignons les apports potentiels, mais néanmoins limités, d’une mobilisation des Sustainability Transition Studies (STS) pour construire des interactions à différentes échelles spatiales pour la transition vers l’EC et sa contribution aux enjeux de durabilité. À cet égard, nous suggérons une mise en perspective par la théorie de l’acteur réseau pour se saisir des potentialités de l’EC dans la poursuite d’une transition écologique. Notre analyse montre ainsi la nécessité de considérer le rôle du processus de composition des collectifs d’acteurs et celle d’intégrer les non-humains dans la dynamique de transition macro-sociétale vers l’EC et son articulation aux enjeux de durabilité. |
