520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Working with the parents of children in therapy is both essential and delicate. It requires tact on the part of the therapist, so as not to aggravate parents’ narcissistic wounds and feelings of guilt or shame. Since the aim is not to provide therapy for parents as such, but rather an approach “for the good of the child”, this parental support must be situated within specific registers, keeping the parent-child relationship as its compass. An open, co-constructive Gestalt posture would appear to be a good way of supporting this necessary delicateness. |
