| Summary, etc. | The non-profit public sector (NPPS) is a topic studied by economics and management sciences. Initially supported by the economic sciences, the NPPS went through a crisis of legitimacy, which gave rise to the doctrine of New Public Management (NPM). For almost 40 years, this doctrine has been nurtured by the management sciences. The application of the NPM, which is sometimes the subject of fierce criticism, is now leading both disciplines (economics and management) to reintroduce a forgotten ethical dimension. This article reviews these developments in public management and the links between economics and management highlighted by the work of Pr. Robert Le Duff. |

| Summary, etc. | Le secteur public non marchand (SPNM) constitue un sujet étudié par les sciences économiques et les sciences de gestion et du management. Au départ porté par les sciences économiques, le SPNM a traversé une crise de légitimité à l’origine de la doctrine du New Public Management. Celle-ci a été nourrie pendant près de 40 ans par les sciences de gestion et du management. Son application faisant parfois l’objet de vives critiques, amène aujourd’hui les deux disciplines (économie et gestion) à réintroduire une dimension éthique oubliée. Cet article revient sur ces évolutions du management public et sur les liens entre économie et gestion soulignés par les travaux du Pr. Robert Le Duff. |
