Summary, etc. Working from analytical experiences undertaken with artists, the author investigates what they can tell us about psychological processes. Drawing on questions about the emergence of presence and “arrest,” the article seeks to elaborate the notions of field of vision, space construction, and “voluminosity.” More specifically, it is by following the analysis of a painter that we revisit the role of a mirror transference model in treatment. It seems then that this model has the power to amplify the initiation of desire that underlies creative processes, and to transform the painful relationship into an inaccessible ideal.
