| Summary, etc. | Cet article traite d’enjeux de gouvernance d’organismes à but non lucratif actifs dans la lutte contre la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées par l’entremise d’une réflexion sur l’action bénévole. La présente analyse se fonde sur une étude de cas multiples auprès de cinq organismes actifs dans ce secteur. Elle mobilise des entretiens auprès de bénévoles, employés et personnes aînées (64 participants), des questionnaires sociodémographiques et de la littérature organisationnelle. Alors que des organismes arborent une posture militante qui valorise l’engagement simultané des bénévoles au sein des volets administratif et opérationnel, d’autres séparent ces rôles par souci de performance en matière de gouvernance. |

| Summary, etc. | Governance of associations by volunteers: Who is accountable to whom?This article discusses governance issues for non-profit organisations involved in the fight against abuse towards the elderly by reflecting on volunteer action. This analysis is based on a multiple case study of five organisations active in this sector. It mobilises interviews with volunteers, staff and seniors (64 participants), socio-demographic questionnaires and organisational literature. While organisations have an advocacy posture that values the simultaneous commitment of volunteers within the administrative and operational streams, others separate these roles for governance performance. |
