| Summary, etc. | Cet article interroge la place des bénévoles dans un dispositif d’accueil d’urgence pour femmes sans domicile. L’Escale fonctionne grâce à la présence d’une équipe salariée et de nombreuses intervenantes, « profanes » ou « professionnelles », qui effectuent un « travail gratuit » essentiel à l’accompagnement de ces femmes. Malgré les efforts réalisés pour les professionnaliser, le dispositif ne parvient pas à éviter le désengagement des bénévoles. La porosité des frontières entre bénévolat et salariat questionne l’organisation, le sens et la pérennité du dispositif et fragilise l’ensemble des acteur·trices. |

| Summary, etc. | This article questions the place of volunteers in an emergency reception center for homeless women. L'Escale operates thanks to the presence of a paid team and many helpers, “laymen” or “professionals”, who work for “free” essential to the support of these women. Despite the efforts made to professionalise them, the system can't avoid loss of volunteers. The thinning line between free and paid work puts into question the organisation, meaning and sustainability of the system and weakens all contributors. |
