| Summary, etc. | From the spirit of charity instilled by the church to social action dictated by the principles of secular solidarity, social work has responded to the orders of political power. Voluntarily or unwittingly, social workers have become politicized; they have responded to injunctions, to social orders. A constant theme being that of social cohesion, but also of public order! Structured by diplomas, by the regulation of social establishments and services, social work seemed depoliticized and reduced to a technical field. But new, more managerial orientations dictated by a liberal economic context, along with a more authoritarian and exclusive political discourse, make social workers fear a loss of meaning, suffering, and professional burnout. |

| Summary, etc. | De l’esprit de Charité insufflé par l’Église à l’Action sociale dictée par les principes de solidarité laïque, l’assistance sociale a répondu aux commandes du pouvoir politique. Volontairement ou à leur insu, les travailleurs sociaux se sont politisés, ils ont répondu aux injonctions, aux commandes sociales. Une constante, celle de la cohésion sociale, mais aussi de l’ordre public ! Structuré par des diplômes, par la réglementation des établissements et services sociaux, le travail social semblait dépolitisé et devenu technique. Mais des nouvelles orientations plus gestionnaires dictées par un contexte d’économie libérale, un discours politique plus autoritaire et exclusif, font craindre aux travailleurs sociaux une perte de sens, une souffrance et un épuisement professionnel. |
