Summary, etc. The history of the Algerian diaspora is closely linked to Algerian immigration to France. It was characterized by a national consciousness during the War of Independence. After independence, the profile of immigration has changed, but the bonds with the homeland have remained strong. The popular movement ( Hirak) that began on February 22, 2019, marked the beginning of a new reorganization and a consolidation of those links. Indeed, the Algerian diaspora has organized itself into collectives and associations in order to give its support to the popular movement and to participate in the democratic transition and the (still uncertain) transformation of the system. To do so, efforts have been made to raise awareness, with debates, marches, and rallies organized on a regular basis before international bodies and authorities, demonstrating the fervor of this new movement. The Hirak has succeeded in bringing the Algerian diaspora together around the same objective: the construction of the second republic.
