| Summary, etc. | Notre confiance dans la bienveillance du monde relève d’une illusion mise en scène par la culture. Cette dernière entretient un ensemble de médiations qui constitue une aire transitionnelle nous prémunissant contre l’angoisse. La sociologie a limité l’examen de la constitution de cette aire à la médiation symbolique, situant socialement l’espace potentiel et sa frontière au sein de l’invention moderne de l’individu. La médiation technique représente une des autres formes possible de constitution de l’aire transitionnelle. Cette médiation trace, elle, une frontière au-delà de la limite individuelle, dans un environnement peuplé d’objets, qui n’est pas encore le monde extérieur des phénomènes objectifs, mais un espace appelé « dispositif ». |

| Summary, etc. | Device and benevolenceOur confidence in the benevolence of the world comes from an illusion established by the culture. This last maintains a suite of mediations which constitutes a transitional area preventing us from anguish. Sociology has limited the examination of this area’s constitution to the symbolic mediation, socially placing the potential space and its frontier within the modern invention of the individual. The technical mediation represents another possible form of the transitional area’s constitution. This mediation traces a frontier beyond the individual limit, in an environment filled with objects, which is not yet the outside world of objective phenomenon, but a space called « Setting » or « Device ». |
