| Summary, etc. | Artisan de l’introduction en Europe de la pensée latino-américaine sur la communication, l’auteur s’interroge sur ses « limites ». Il fait état en premier lieu du statut ambigu du chercheur tout en relevant sa propension à de brusques retournements tel que celui qu’elle a connu au début des années 1980 par rapport aux théories de la dépendance. Il relève que cet infléchissement a abouti cependant à une solide refondation épistémologique et théorique de ce champ de recherche et qu’il se traduit par un souci maintenu de ne pas dénier comme certaines recherches européennes le poids de pouvoirs dans les processus communicationnels. Il note enfin que la recherche latino-américaine et la recherche européenne se rejoignent par leurs préoccupations sur les processus d’intégration régionale (CEE, Alena), ce qui devrait inciter à des échanges plus intenses. |

| Summary, etc. | Limits of Latin American Analysis on CommunicationThe author raises the question of the « limits » of Latin American thinking on communication that he introduced into Europe. He first reviews the researcher’s ambiguous status and points out the propensity of research for sudden reversals, such as it demonstrated in the early eighties in the field of dependency theories. He admits, though, that this backtracking did lead to a solid new epistemological and theoretical foundation of this field of research, and that this is reflected in a sustained concern not to deny the weight of government authorities in communication processes, as can be found in certain European research. Lastly, he notes that Latin American and European research concur in their concerns with the regional integration processes (EC, Alena), which should prompt more intense exchanges. |
