| Summary, etc. | Cet article à la fois historiographique et programmatique commence par un rappel du dénigrement dont l’histoire politique a longtemps souffert. Ces dernières années ont été celles d’un indéniable renouveau avec l’affirmation d’une histoire culturelle du politique qui est restée, depuis, très dynamique, l’ouverture élargie sur les autres champs historiques ou encore l’établissement de liens plus étroits avec les autres sciences humaines et sociales qui a même pu produire de nouvelles hybridations. Il est temps que le vœu formulé voilà deux décennies par René Rémond pour que naisse une histoire politique totale se concrétise. |

| Summary, etc. | This article of historiography is programmatic too. It starts by stating the discredit from which political history has long suffered. The last few years have experienced a definite renewal with the assertion of a very dynamic cultural history of politics, a broad opening on other historical fields as well as the strengthening of closer links with other Human and Social Sciences which has contributed to new hybridizations. Two decades ago, René Rémond made an appeal on behalf of a total political history and it is high time this initiative became reality. |
