Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Journalists : small links at the end of the industrial chainIn the 80’s, medias economies started a new age. New laws allowed development and modernization of medias industries. At the same time, in developed countries, governments’ political economy changed radically : deregulation, free market, internationalization. These “new deal” had lot of consequences on the management of medias and press groups. Small (group) was no more beautiful and mergers became usual. New technologies modified industrial organisation. In this context, journalists have a bad and a good position : a bad one, because they are a “cost” for firms – reduced editorial staff, freelances, growing productivity – and a good one because newspapers need readers and readers look for valued information. |
