| Summary, etc. | Cet article propose une réflexion sur les démarches comparatives internationales dans les études sur les médias et plus spécialement dans les études événementielles. Après avoir mis en valeur leur statut pionnier dans les sciences sociales et humaines, il souligne leur continuité et leur vitalité. Il examine ensuite les difficultés épistémologiques de ces entreprises ainsi que les raisons des préventions qui se manifestent à leur égard et qui tiennent principalement aux risques de biais socio-cognitifs (effets d’exotisme ou d’ethnocentrisme, stéréotypage, etc.). Pour les études sur les médias, il met en évidence et discute certaines confusions (entre types de supports, de dispositifs ou de genres) qui contribuent à minorer l’intérêt de ces démarches. En s’appuyant sur diverses expériences de recherche, il défend enfin le pouvoir heuristique de ces démarches en proposant des repères et des principes méthodologiques en mesure de garantir leur validité. |

| Summary, etc. | Virtues and Vertigoes of International Comparative Approaches to the Study of EventsThis article proposes a reflection on the international comparative approaches to the study of events. After having emphasized their pioneer statute in social and human sciences, it underlines their continuity and their vitality. It then examines the espistemologic difficulties of these studies as well as the reasons of the preventions which are due mainly to the risks of socio-cognitive skews bias (effects of exoticism or ethnocentrism, stereotyping, etc.) For the studies of the media, it highlights and discusses certain confusions (between types of supports, devices or kinds) which undervalue the interest of these studies. While being based on various experiments, it defends finally the heuristic capacity of these approaches by proposing reference marks and methodological principles which guarantee their validity. |
