Summary, etc. This article examines the historical origins of anti-Gypsyism and the conceptual debates that surrounded the formation of this notion. By means of a historiographical and thematic analysis, the article presents the main stereotypes generally associated with the Romani populations as well as the various registers of anti-Gypsy racism. Starting from a reflexive and historical framework based on comparison, this study builds bridges with other types of racism, against Jews and Blacks in particular.
