| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article est une contribution à l’étude du corps présidentiel à partir des itinéraires athlétiques des sept jeunes hommes nés entre 1890 et 1955 qui deviendront les présidents de la Ve République. Leur éducation corporelle est rapportée à des contextes sportifs et pédagogiques, culturels et politiques, à ce point différents que la méthode des « portraits sportifs » a été retenue. Au fil des expériences enfantines et juvéniles de formation corporelle, il s’agit d’étudier les points de contact entre milieu, éducation, héritage politique et culture sportive. Autrement dit, pour paraphraser Pierre Bourdieu, de comprendre comment, c'est-à-dire de quelle manière et pourquoi, les présidents de la Ve République ont-ils pu être sportifs s’ils l’ont jamais été. La question est posée d’un lien entre nature des sports pratiqués et leadership politique, et de la culture sportive comme atout politique. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper analyses the sport culture of the seven French Presidents of the Vth Republic, born between 1980 and 1955. It tries to relate their physical education to the educational, sports, cultural and political background of their times – so distinct that only successive and juxtaposed pictures can be drawn. During their infancy, as well as during their primary and secondary education, their social and educational background, and their inherited political culture have interacted with their sport and physical culture. The paper therefore questions the link between political leadership and physical activities and tries to show how their sport culture has been (or not) a political asset. |
