| Summary, etc. | Au cours des années conciliaires, l’évolution de la société néerlandaise vers la gauche est marquée par le développement d’une culture jeune et du flower power, mais aussi par des manifestations étudiantes et par un durcissement de l’action syndicale. Cette mutation se traduit dans l’Église catholique par l’apparition de communautés de base et de paroisses critiques. Les exemples analysés ici soulignent leurs préoccupations : modernisation de la liturgie mais aussi critique de la société et contestation du fonctionnement ecclésial – notamment du célibat ecclésiastique et des obstacles mis à l’intercommunion entre catholiques et protestants. Largement médiatisée, notamment à travers le groupe de prêtres contestataires Septuagint, l’expérience de la gauche catholique hollandaise a eu un grand écho international au tournant des années 1960 et 1970, avant de perdre sa base sociale et de décliner rapidement. |

| Summary, etc. | Over the course of the conciliar years, progressive social movements arose in Dutch society. These were marked by the spread of youth culture and “flower power” as well as student demonstrations and the radicalization of trade unions. In the Catholic Church, this transformation was reflected in the emergence of grassroots communities and “critical parishes”. The examples considered here underscore their concerns: the modernization of liturgy, social critique and protest targeting the manner in which the Church operated, particularly in what concerned ecclesiastical celibacy and the obstacles put in the way of intercommunion between Catholics and Protestants. Widely covered in the media, particularly thanks to the efforts of the Septuagint, a group of protesting priests, the experience of the Dutch Catholic left was closely watched abroad in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It subsequently lost its social base and rapidly declined. |
