Ceux-ci se sont retrouvés saisis par les moyens de communication depuis la descente d’avion de Christine Jorgensen en 1953 à New York jusqu’à la pornographie sur Internet, en passant par les mises en scène des shemales et la médiatisation du bois de Boulogne dans les années 1980-1990, générant sur le terrain confusions, divisions et concurrences. Appuyé sur les résultats d’une étude menée de 2008 à 2012 et des corpus audiovisuels, cet article permet de montrer les processus complexes et croisés en jeu dans la construction médiatique des transidentités. |

This issue has been making news since the media frenzy around transgender Christine Jorgensen’s arrival at New York airport in 1953, the media coverage of “shemales” and the Bois de Boulogne transvestites in the 1980s and 1990s, through to contemporary Internet pornography, creating confusion, divisions and competition on the ground. Drawing on the results of a study conducted from 2008 to 2012 and on audiovisual archives, this article shows the complex and interacting processes at work in the media construction of trans-identities. |
