| Summary, etc. | Il nous semble que les recherches en communication peuvent entrer en dialogue avec les travaux sur les controverses de deux manières différentes. En premier lieu, on peut prêter une attention particulière à la circulation des discours et aux pratiques médiatiques, et tenter de discuter les conceptions de l’espace social qui les sous-tendent. On peut aussi, c’est ce que nous défendons ici, s’appuyer sur le fait que ces phénomènes ne sont pas extérieurs à nos propres pratiques de recherche, et profiter de l’occasion pour nous rendre plus sensibles à nos propres conceptions de ce que sont des espaces sociaux. Il s’agirait d’une part de renforcer la théorisation et l’analyse empirique d’une politique des textes et des documents déjà présente dans l’analyse des médias en sciences de l’information et de la communication, grâce à l’héritage littéraire et linguistique de notre discipline. Il s’agirait d’autre part de s’inscrire plus, d’un point de vue sociologique, dans la théorisation et l’analyse empirique de la signification des présences et des engagements physiques (saisis grâce à l’enquête) au sein et entre les espaces sociaux |

| Summary, etc. | The communicational dimension of controversyWe believe that research on communication and research on controversy should engage in a dialogue in two different ways. First, through a particular focus on the circulation of discourse and practice in the media, with discussions of the underlying conceptions of the social sphere. Secondly, and this is the main thrust of our article, given that these phenomena lie within the scope of our own research practices, such a dialogue should be taken as an opportunity to strengthen our awareness of our own conceptions of what constitutes social space. The aim would be, firstly, to strengthen both theory and empirical analysis of a policy for texts and documents that is already addressed in analyses of the media and the information and communication sciences, thanks to the literary and linguistic heritage of our discipline. Secondly, the idea would be to delve more deeply, from the sociological angle, into theoretical discussions and empirical analyses of the meaning of physical presence and involvement (recorded through surveys) within and between social spaces. |
