| Summary, etc. | Contrairement à une idée reçue, le tout-anglais n’est plus une solution d’avenir mais bien une solution dépassée, si tant est qu’elle ait jamais pu en être une. Dans un monde interconnecté et multipolaire, l’heure est au plurilinguisme et non à la communication par l’intermédiaire d’une lingua franca unique, fût-elle « planétaire » comme le soi-disant Global English. C’est justement ce contre quoi le monde anglophone s’insurge actuellement, en voyant tout l’intérêt de développer de nouvelles interfaces, notamment avec les langues romanes, à l’heure où celles-ci se voient accorder une puissance géopolitique croissante qui s’appuie sur un vivier d’un milliard de locuteurs à travers le monde. |

| Summary, etc. | Contrary to conventional wisdom, the All-English option is no longer a solution for the future but an outdated one, if ever it was a solution. In an interconnected and multipolar world, communicating via one lingua franca only, even if it is a “global” language as English is now supposed to be, is no longer the order of the day. In the age of globalisation, what is required is a plurilingual approach, something which the English-speaking world is now advocating as it is aware of the importance of developing new linguistic interfaces, notably with the Romance languages, whose growing geopolitical power draws upon a billion speakers throughout the world. |
