| Summary, etc. | Esophageal, gastroduodenal and colorectal stents are commonly used in the management of patients with malignant stenosis obstructing the digestive system. In palliative situations of symptomatic esophageal, gastroduodenal or malignant colonic symptomatic stenosis, the feasibility, low morbidity and good short-term symptomatic results of these medical devices are now well established. Gastrointestinal stents are clearly indicated in palliative situations where the main objective is to improve the quality of life of the patients but they are not generally recommended in the curative strategies of obstructive cancers of the digestive tract. This paper aims at explaining the indications of digestive stents as a palliative treatment for digestive cancer. |

| Summary, etc. | Les endoprothèses digestives œsophagiennes, gastroduodénales et colorectales sont couramment utilisées dans la prise en charge des patients présentant une sténose maligne obstruant la lumière digestive de façon symptomatique. Dans les situations palliatives les plus communes de sténose tumorale symptomatique œsophagienne, gastroduodénale ou colique, la faisabilité, la faible morbidité et les bons résultats symptomatiques à court terme de ces dispositifs médicaux ne sont plus à démontrer. Les endoprothèses digestives sont clairement indiquées dans les situations palliatives où l’objectif principal est d’améliorer la qualité de vie, mais ils ne sont généralement pas recommandés dans les stratégies à visée curative des cancers obstructifs du tube digestif. Cette mise au point a pour but d’exposer les indications de prothèses digestives dans le traitement palliatif des cancers du tube digestif. |
