| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa ferme modèle, notion apparue au xixe siècle, est un concept flou, renvoyant tout autant à la dimension architecturale des bâtiments qu’aux méthodes agronomiques employées. Comme d’autres démarches ayant pour ambition de diffuser le progrès agricole, elle pose aussi la question de sa capacité à se constituer en exemple. Cette étude portant sur le Limousin, région d’élevage et de métayage, relativise le rôle qu’a pu jouer la modernité architecturale dans l’introduction et la diffusion du progrès agricole et analyse le regard que les élites locales portaient sur les fermes modèles. Plus que cette notion d’établissement « modèle », ce sont les relations qui se tissent entre propriétaires et métayers au sein des grands domaines qui ont initié le progrès agricole dans la seconde moitié du xixe siècle |

| Summary, etc. | The idea of a « model farm » appeared in the xixth century, and its contents remained unclear, since it could refer as much to the architectural form of the farm buildings as to the agricultural methods which were used. Like many other endeavours promoting agricultural progress, the model farm also begged the question of its own exemplarity. The present study focuses on Limousin, an area characterized by sharecropping and cattle-raising. It ends up questioning the extent to which architectural modernity played a role in introducing and spreading agricultural progress, through an analysis of the perception of thse modal farms by local elites. In the second half of the xixth century, agricultural progress was promoted less through this idea of a « model » plant, than through the relationships which linked landholders and sharecroppers on large. |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenEl concepto de finca modelo, una noción aparecida en el siglo xix, es confuso, remitiendo tanto a la dimensión arquitectural de los edificios como a los métodos agronómicos utilizados. Como otros muchos medios cuyo objectivo es difundir el progreso agrícola, plantea también la cuestión de su capacidad a actuar como ejemplo. Este trabajo dedicado al Lemosín, zona de ganaderia y de aparcería, relativiza el papel que pudo desempeñar la modernidad arquitectural en la introducción y la difusión del progreso agrícola y analiza la visión que las elites locales tenían de las fincas modelo. Más que esta noción de finca « modelo », son las relaciones entre propietarios y aparceros dentro de las grandes propiedades las que han iniciado el progreso agrícola en la segunda mitad del siglo xix. |
