| Summary, etc. | En 1931, au Trocadéro comme à la Porte Dorée, deux institutions muséales sont en travaux. La première, le musée d’Ethnographie, futur musée de l’Homme, est en pleine rénovation sous l’égide de Paul Rivet et de Georges Henri Rivière. La seconde, le musée permanent des Colonies, doit ouvrir ses portes à l’issue de l’Exposition coloniale. Si leurs projets diffèrent, entre discours ethnographique pour l’un, et discours historique, culturel et artistique pour l’autre, les deux musées ont vocation à transformer l’entreprise coloniale en objet d’exposition, en présentant au public français la diversité des peuples et des cultures de l’Empire. |
