| Summary, etc. | Le malentendu est un conflit d’interprétation ou un décalage de compréhension. Mais il arrive que le décalage soit plutôt motif à rire. L’émergence du burlesque dans la vie quotidienne ou dans le cinéma est l’irruption d’un malentendu aux conséquences hilarantes pour les spectateurs. Le rire nait parfois de l’incompréhension d’une différence culturelle ou de l’assignation de l’autre à une position subalterne. Il est alors plutôt un refus d’entendre l’altérité, une volonté de la maintenir dans les conventions de pensée à son égard. Parfois le politiquement correct de nos sociétés contemporaines et l’absence de sens de l’humour de ceux qui entendent une blague se conjuguent pour dénoncer l’auteur d’un bon mot. Des malentendus tragiques rappellent combien l’humour est culturellement délimité. |

Sometimes our contemporary societies’ political correctness combines with someone’s lack of a sense of humor, thus leading the author of a clever remark to be condemned.
