Summary, etc. The European destinies of Denmark and Sweden, which are closely linked, have been shaped by an apparently similar scenario: after joining the European Community by referendum (1973 for Denmark and 1994 for Sweden), the adoption of a single currency was rejected by popular vote in 2000 in Denmark and 2003 in Sweden. As a result, neither country uses the euro, but their monetary freedom vis-à-vis the euro is not comparable. Their unique paths within the European Union bear witness to the fragility and strength of a Europe marked by incommunication.

Summary, etc. Le destin européen du Danemark et celui de la Suède, étroitement liés, se sont dessinés selon un scénario en apparence proche : après avoir intégré la communauté européenne par référendum (1973 pour l’un et 1994 pour l’autre), l’adoption d’une monnaie unique a été rejetée par un vote populaire en 2000 au Danemark et en 2003 en Suède. Conséquences : aucun de ces deux pays n’utilise l’euro ; mais leur liberté monétaire vis-à-vis de l’euro n’est pas comparable. Leur parcours singulier au sein de l’Union européenne témoigne de la fragilité et de la force d’une Europe marquée par l’incommunication.
